About Us
Edgewood Presbyterian Church has been a welcoming presence in the Columbus community since 1952. Born from the vision of First Presbyterian Church to plant a mission in the growing Edgewood area, our congregation began with a simple Education Building, a young pastor, and a handful of dedicated families. From our first worship service in May 1951, Edgewood quickly became known as a friendly, close‑knit church where people of all ages could grow in faith together.
Across the decades, Edgewood has expanded its ministries, nurtured generations of children and youth, supported mission work locally and globally, and partnered with the community through programs like Listening Eyes School, Boy Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, and numerous outreach efforts. The merger with Memorial Presbyterian Church in 1976 strengthened our fellowship and broadened our ministry footprint.
Our campus grew as the congregation grew, culminating in our unique cross‑shaped sanctuary, dedicated in 1975 as a reminder that Christ is at the center of our life together. Through seasons of change, Edgewood has remained rooted in joyful worship, caring relationships, spiritual growth, and service to others.
Today, times have changed and we continue to live out our calling as a Christ-centered, welcoming family of faith—loving God, loving our neighbors, and seeking to reflect Christ’s hope in our community and beyond. Edgewood has moved on from its aging campus and is currently 'nested' within First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Columbus. The church administration offices and Sunday School rooms are located on the 3rd floor of the main building and Sunday Worship Services are held each week at 11:00 AM in the chapel, located at the corner of 2nd Avenue and 11th Street.
